YUKA ALTERNATIVE
The app that does everything Yuka does,
and also finds prices.
Vutro uses the same Open Food Facts data as Yuka — but goes further by identifying cheaper store-brand alternatives with equal or better Nutri-Score. Free.
← Back to homeHow food scanner apps work
A food barcode scanner uses your phone's camera to read the EAN-13 barcode printed on a product's packaging. That code is matched against a database — most commonly Open Food Facts, a free, collaborative database listing more than 3 million products worldwide. Within seconds, the app displays the product's nutritional composition, ingredient list, and any allergens.
Not all food scanning apps focus on the same thing. Some concentrate purely on nutritional grading and health impact. Others, like the official Open Food Facts app, emphasize community contribution — adding photos, correcting information, enriching the database for everyone. Others specialize in allergen or additive detection for people with specific dietary restrictions.
Vutro relies on that same Open Food Facts data for full nutritional analysis — but adds a layer few apps offer: price comparison. Rather than simply telling you a product isn't great for your health, Vutro actively looks for a store-brand alternative with an equal or better Nutri-Score and shows you how much you could save by switching.

What Vutro does on top
The prices Yuka doesn't show
Yuka tells you if a product is healthy. Vutro also tells you how much you can save by choosing a store brand alternative with the same Nutri-Score.
Truly free with no restrictions
Yuka limits the number of free scans and pushes toward a premium subscription. Vutro is completely free, with no scan limit and no features hidden behind a paywall.
No tracking
Your scan data is never sold or shared with third parties. Vutro does not resell your food habits.

How does Vutro find cheaper alternatives?
